i don't listen to music when i run, but at races when i hear music i love to hear Runnin' up that hill by kate bush and Break my stride by matthew wilder. hope everyone has a great weekend with some great runs! i went to the beach for the weekend and got up early to avoid people and ran on the boardwalk:)
Somewhat cheesy but totally helpful: Try Everything (Shakira- Zootopia Soundtrack), Touch the Sky (Julie Fowlis- Brave Soundtrack), Walking on Sunshine (Katrina & The Waves), Hit Me With Your Best Shot (Pat Benatar), I'm Gonna Be (The Proclaimers) and yes Run That Race (Dan Auerbach - Cars 3 Soundtrack).
Depends on my mood. Some days it's classic rock like The Doors and other days I like some 90's hard rock like Godsmack, Tool and Megadeth. Either one will keep you moving.
Here's one that at first blush wouldn't seem to be suited for running. However, Oh Darling by the Beatles is a precise 180 BPM. Through the verses, the piano chops are 3 beats per second, and the bridge features an arpeggiated guitar that mirrors the piano. I sometimes sing it in my head when I do form checks.
My running tunes tend more toward pop and hip hop, but one of my favorite recent discoveries is the song Work It by Marie Davidson. I found that one on Dance Church's playlists, which are so good. https://open.spotify.com/user/ykkxmefcftd9gcpm3diodypcq The Chick's new album, Gaslighter, has some good songs for running, too.
Believe it or not, I don't listen to music when I run. I like to "feel" the outside and just be in the moment. After the run I crank-up the tunes, take a shower and eat!
Love everyone’s suggestions! I’ll explore the shared Spotify playlists once I’m done with my current homework assignment! I have a running playlist on Spotify that is now 7hrs long and still growing! There’s some songs I’ve added from the half marathon playlist and lots of others. Featuring upbeat, pop, instrumental/soundtracks, “fighting” “dancing” and positive vibes.
My running is going well, and I feel like I’ve finally adjusted to the humidity here. Still don’t like it, but it doesn’t wind me like it used to. In other news, I’ve a little less than a month left to finish my first online class working toward my Bachelor of Science (Health Services Technology). See y’all on the other side of finals!
I Like "Weapon of Choice" (Fatboy Slim). The mental images of Christopher Walken flying through the air go through my head. Don't know if it makes me any faster, though. And yes, I'm old, but the live version of "Live and Let Die" has some nice builds to it. Cruise during the slower parts, gain strength as the song does.
I don't listen to music when I run, although usually I like listening to podcasts. Lately I love listening to the Point of Origin food podcast from Whetstone
Thanks! You've given me several to add to my list. Check these songs out - I'm Alive (Michael Franti) is my favorite starting song, Pump It Up (Elvis Costello), Duct Tape Heart (Barenaked Ladies), 5 More Days Til Summer (Lenny Kravitz, Dark Necessities (Red Hot Chilli Peppers).
I love On Top Of The World (Imagine Dragons), The Pasture (Elephant Revival), Dancehall Domine (The New Pornographers), Running Down A Dream (Tom Petty), and Summer of 69 (Bryan Adams).
Now I think of a good song and try to sing it in my head while I run and I usually end up running a half mile more because I’m not focusing on anything. Its really productive for me.
I really like "try everything" :) Like you say, depends on when and where:) I like "Follow Your Fire" Kodaline, "We Found Love" Calvin Harris, "We Were Young" Gareth Emery. etc. :)

A playlist is not complete without Iron Maiden Run to the Hills.
My pace always increases when Metallica comes on!!!

Michael Franti. Bob Marley - he was actually a lifelong runner!
I used to listen to really upbeat music but I’ve found that no music is more freeing. Running is when I escape all the noise of the day and just relax
Enjoy Every Second ( Michael Franti & Spearhead), Lets Go Crazy (Prince), Let It Roll (Little Feat).

The Runcast! Pre-made playlists courtesy of runner and DJ John Richards at the Seattle-based radio station KEXP.
